If I could use two words to describe this summer, I’d say coffee + wine. I am such a minimal drinker–as in one glass of red when out to dinner, mayyyybe…I drink coffee on the daily, but summer has me downing two cups–one for each kiddo, just kidding, but not really…I’m exhausted! Harlow sleeps from 8:30 at night to about 4:00 a.m. and then he’s up pretty much every half hour from there on. It’s been a struggle. I used the Ferber sleep training method to get him to sleep in his crib, and it has surprisingly worked really well, but if you could solve the 4 a.m. thing for me, that would be the absolute best!
Anyway, all these 4 a.m. wake up calls and a full schedule has had me drinking way more wine than usual, but I’m not complaining. I’m actually thinking of it like a vacation, since I can’t go on a real one right now. Anyhow, I thought it would be fun to come up with a ledger of all the things I’m thinking of doing in August, one thing for each day.
Well, here goes a whole lotta nothin’…
AUG 03 Have yourself a spoonful of organic peanut butter or almond butter in lieu of dessert.
AUG 04 Schedule our yearly physicals, eye exams, and bi-annual dental exams before school starts back up again.
AUG 05 Try and make one of these breakfast bowls.
AUG 06 Rent a projector and have an outdoor movie night in the backyard.
AUG 07 Watch the season finale of the Bachelorette! who. will. win? I think Bryan will win, and Peter will be the Bachelor next season! One can only hope.
AUG 08 Invest in a good pair of sunglasses. Green lenses tend to work best with my skin tone, so I’ve been contemplating these unisex frames by Ray-Ban.
AUG 09 Try a new ice cream or frozen yogurt flavor.
AUG 10 Take a yoga class.
AUG 12 Plan a trip to Disneyland once our annual passes are good again!
AUG 14 Play a game of Monikers with some friends.
AUG 17 Spend a day at the beach.
AUG 18 Hang string lights on the patio.
AUG 21 Check out the total solar eclipse today! (Make sure to wear protective glasses)
AUG 22 Send a brightbox to someone special in your life, just because.
They are only $5. The end.
AUG 23 Whip up some homemade spicy margaritas. I’ll post my recipe soon!
AUG 24 Take a weekend road trip up the coast.
AUG 26 Make a bonfire at sunset.
AUG 27 Sew a new quilt or blanket for Fall.
AUG 28 Make a homemade pizza.
AUG 29 Get slurpees and have a water balloon fight!
AUG 30 With Fall and Winter around the corner find a good facial oil to use at night to combat dry skin.
AUG 31 Pinterest the best root beer float recipe you can find and celebrate the end of summer!
